Goliga Books, Inc. ("we," "us," or "the Company") handles the personal information of users ("you") obtained through our website (https://mosskogei.com) and the "MOSS KOGEI Kyoto" event (organized by the MOSS KOGEI Kyoto Executive Committee) appropriately, as set out below. Tickets and goods sold on the Site are sold by Goliga Books, Inc. as the seller of record.

"Personal information" means personal information as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can identify that individual by name, date of birth, or other description (including information that can be readily collated with other information to identify the individual).

We may collect the following when you use the site, reserve or purchase tickets, products, or services (workshops, talks, tea ceremonies, dining programs, etc.), or contact us:

Name and phonetic reading

Email address, phone number, postal address

Reservation/purchase details (ticket type, date/time, quantity, amount)

Payment-related information (card numbers and the like are collected and processed by our payment providers; we do not, as a rule, retain them)

Site-usage information (cookies, IP address, browsing history, device information, analytics data)

The content of your inquiries and correspondence with us

We use personal information within the scope of the following purposes:

To reserve, sell, and provide tickets, products, and services; to verify identity; to bill and process payment; and to manage admission

To operate the event, contact participants, and send confirmations, invitations, and receipts

To respond to inquiries and requests

To send information about this and future events (where you have opted in or as permitted by law)

To improve the site and services and for statistical analysis

To comply with laws and for purposes incidental to the above

We do not provide personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except: where required by law; where necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and consent is difficult to obtain; or where cooperation with a public authority performing statutory duties is required.

To the extent necessary to run the Event, we may share a minimum set of information, such as participant lists, with the Organizer, the MOSS KOGEI Kyoto Executive Committee.

We may entrust the handling of personal information to external providers or use external services to the extent necessary, selecting and supervising them appropriately. Principal services include:

Shopify (website and online sales platform), provided by Shopify Inc.

Payment processing. The provider we use is shown at checkout and in the Specified Commercial Transactions Act Disclosure; card and payment data are held by that provider, not by us.

Square (in-person payments at the venue)

Google Analytics and similar analytics services (see Section 9)

Handling of personal information by these providers is also governed by their own privacy policies.

In providing the Services we use providers located outside Japan, and may entrust the handling of personal data to them. The principal countries are:

Shopify Inc. (Canada): website and online sales platform

Google LLC (United States): analytics

Payment processors (in Japan, and in some cases the United States, Ireland, or elsewhere): payment processing

These constitute entrusted handling of personal data. We select such providers appropriately and supervise them as required by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information. Information on the data-protection regimes of the countries concerned is available on request from the contact in Section 15.

We take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal information, including:

Organizational: a designated person responsible for handling, monitoring of handling, and a reporting line in the event of a leak

Personnel: briefing those who handle personal information on the relevant precautions

Technical: encryption of communications (SSL/TLS), access controls, and measures against unauthorised external access

External environment: where personal data is handled abroad, we take security measures informed by the data-protection regime of the country concerned

The site uses cookies and similar technologies and may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to improve usability and understand usage. Information collected is aggregated anonymously and does not identify individuals. You may disable cookies in your browser, though some features may then be unavailable.

You may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of third-party provision of your personal information via the contact in Section 1. After verifying that the request comes from you, we will respond within a reasonable period in accordance with the law. We may ask you to present identification such as a driver’s licence or passport. No fee is charged for such requests.

Under Article 32 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, we publish the following:

Name, address, and representative of the business operator: as stated in Section 1

Purposes of use of all retained personal data: as stated in Section 4

Procedure and fees for disclosure requests: as stated in Section 10

Security measures taken: as stated in Section 8 (details available on request)

Where to lodge a complaint: the contact in Section 15

Certified personal information protection organization: we do not belong to one

We retain personal information for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of use or as required by law, and thereafter delete or dispose of it promptly and appropriately.

Minors should use our services only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

We may revise this policy in response to changes in law or operational needs. Revisions take effect when posted on the site.
